Do not be concerned about the embossing powder falling and sticking to areas other than the stamped areas. The ink acts as a glue, holding the powder in place on the stamped area. Simply shake the excess powder off your fabric. Heat set the embossing powder with a heat gun so that it works and puffs up. You cannot do this without a heat gun because this process requires the application of high heat.
Keep the stamp right side up on your ironing board. Apply a hot iron to the fabric just above where the stamp is located. You’re using heat to get the details on the fabric’s pile. To mist the fabric’s surface, you’ll need a water sprayer. To make impressions on velvet, use rubber stamps or metal stamps.
